Surprised my family with a New Pool.

I found your previous thread. It looks like your equipment will be controlled by a Pentair Screenlogic system. If so, you want all main components from the same manufacturer. Go with the IC40 or IC60. SWG should be at least twice the pool volume.

If you are DIYing and don’t care about automation then Circupool has the most DIY friendly warranty. Getting a RJ-?? from discountsaltpool.com with the $10 upgrade is the way to go. If you want to have automation then stick with the brand of your automation/existing pool equipment.

Edit: if your automation consists of few Wi-Fi/Z-Wave switches then you don’t need to stick with one brand.

I noticed most pool builders use Pentair/Hayward for pool equipment .The 7year warranty on RJ-45 PLUS Circupool is hard to pass up.

Read the fine print. While it is certainly a bonus, i saw one of theirs recently that was prorated towards your replacement. IIRC it was 10% the last year or two, which, again, is better than nothing, but not as amazing as it sounds at first glance.

Still better than the traditional Hayward’s 3 months legal warranty if you DIY.

Roughly 20k gallons ? I'd go (and did myself) with a 3HP variable speed pump (or 2.7HP brand depending) and 60k rated SWG.

The oversized pump requires less energy to run than the appropriately sized pump, while moving the same amount of water. It will literally pay for itself, possibly a few times over.

The SWGs are rated for 24/7 use (with pump running) Getting a 2X unit means you only have to run it for 12 hours in the peak season. A 3X unit would need 8 hours. Why you care, is that the bulk of the cost of SWG is buying the base model and controller. Upsizing to 3X costs you 40% more for three times the expected lifespan. The math works heavily in your favor meaning future you won't be buying another on for a long time.

All 3 styles of filters are sufficient to human eyes for filtering. The least effective filter, sand, just won our monthly pic contest with a clarity theme. I will not listen to one word saying a sand filter doesn't clean well enough, even as a biased cartridge guy. Whichever style you decide, a larger filter needs to be cleaned less. That's the only difference when you look at sizes. Twice the size needs half the cleanings, yet, like the swgs, the math is bigtime in your favor. Needing less maintenance will also pay you back year after year after year.

Thank you for the feedback new dude.I do have a solar system so I will save there.I would like to know what brand you're purchasing if this was your pool?

I ignorantly got Pentair with my last pool because PB said it was great. It did not disappoint and I am a lifer as most people are when given their first equipment. We moved and I put my money where my mouth is replacing what I had. Might even be firing it up in a week. 🤞 (build thread in signature below)

Originally I was going with a pool builder who wrote up the bid using Pentair equipment. So Pentair it is.Where would I get the best pricing for the pentair equipment?

Pentair is a good choice. The SWG claimed chlorine production rates (lbs per day) are less than those of other manufactures. For the SWG, a 40K (1.4 lbs per day) or the 60K (2.0 lbs per day) would both work, but the IC60 is a better value.

Warranties are less important to some folks, but if you do go with Pentair, a 3-year warranty is offered when purchased as a bundle and installed by a Qualified Installer:

Select Bundled Products: applies to purchases and qualified installation of a minimum of a pump and filter, and one or more of the following: heaters, heat pumps, control systems, automatic cleaners, lighting, salt chlorine generators or UV sterilizer**
*Note: Qualified Installer - Defined as a licensed professional who charges a fee for his services, and possesses a business license, contractor's license and/or resale permit. Common examples of a "qualified installer" include: Swimming Pool, Home Repair or Landscape Professional; Plumber or Electrician; General Contractor; Heating and Air Conditioning Specialist.
**Note: Bundled products - must be purchased on the same invoice and installed at the same time. If any product within a bundle is ineligible for the bundled warranty coverage then all products within the same bundle will be disqualified from receiving the three (3) year extended warranty coverage for bundled products.

What a lucky family!! Do they know yet?

I like your design. The only thing I would change is the shallow end depth. 3 1/2' can be a problem if you try to do a true crawl stroke. You are likely scrap your knuckles on the bottom :( If you go to 4' depth then you work on two things-good swim depth AND it eases the transition to the wonderful 7' deep end!

Now lets get deeper into depth here. We want to make sure you are talking WATER depth! Water depth is from the floor to the middle of the waterline tile and skimmer opening. Some people use from the floor to the coping as "depth". Just something to think about.

Now jets in your spa: ParaJets Massage Therapy Spa Jets - Paramount Pool & Spa Systems

Yes, they know🥰. Good points on the depth I will revisit the plan.
