Superflo VS 342001 died

My 1.5 HP pentair Superflo VS (#342001) died. Wondering if I should consider a less expensive option to replace. I want something that can drop in without too much plumbing modifications. Thanks for any opinions…

What lower cost pump are you considering?

Any plumbing changes for a new pump should just be a bit of PVC work . Unless you have little space to work in your equipment pad.

Show us a pic of your equipment pad and pump.

Don’t have one in mind. I thought maybe a dual speed pump over the variable speed. I have plenty of space. My other pump was about 6 years old, but it got hit by lightning.

If you want a dual speed pump and can find one then grab it. Single speed and dual speed pumps over 1HP are no longer allowed to be manufactured for sale.

Remember, if you are able to get a 2-speed pump, or just a replacement motor, you will also need to get a timer that will change the speeds and need to rewire the system correctly. An Intermatic P1353ME will do the job and fit into a standard Intermatic box. If you aren't very familiar with electrical wiring for pool equipment, you are better off hiring someone who is. These are not "plug-and-play." They usually run about $300.00 online.

You could also install a V-Green 2.7 motor, I've done it. You can't use the V-Green 1.65, your impeller will overload it and burn out the motor.
