Hi all,
I'm looking for a bit of advice or suggestions. I currently have Pentair SuperFlo VS 2.2 that just died yesterday after 7 years. Although I'm not particularly happy that it died rather quickly, I was just going to replace it with the exact same model. However, my pool guy is recommending the Jandy FloPro VS 1.65 hp because in his experience he said it's just a better more reliable pump. That being said, while I do trust and value his opinion, I'm concerned the difference in total hp is going to be significant. He said for my set up the 2.2 hp from Pentair is overkill and rarely operated at the max hp. He's not wrong since the highest I would set the RPM was 3200 when the suction line was running for the cleaner for 3 hours. The other 8 hours it would circulate water at 1200 RPM.
My pool is a 16,000 gallon standard 15x30 rectangular pool. My equipment comprises of a Hayward T-15 salt cell, Jandy CS150 filter, and a Gulfstream HE150 heat pump. My pool guy installed the Jandy filter and heat pump and they've been both great so far. Overall, my concern is the cleaner which is connected to the dedicated suction line will struggle with the lower hp pump. I know without looking at my pool and distance of the equipment it's rather difficult to assess, but do any of you think the Jandy will be a suitable replacement. Or should I just stay with the Pentair? The price is roughly the same with the Jandy being $50 cheaper. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
