Sulphuric acid vs. hydrochloric acid ?

I have always used hydrochloric acid to lower the PH, but it seems like everyone is using sulphuric acid for this.
Is there any specific reason for this. Is SA better than HA?

The reason I use HA is, that we always have it at home and I can get it at the local supermarket - SA can only be found in home-improvement stores and similar.

Actually, we recommend muriatic (hydrochloric) acid. Other types can be problematic over time. See the link below for more info.
