Hello all. So happy I found this site, been reading, learning, and getting more confused for over a week now!! I am wanting to purchase a salt water above ground pool from the internet. 27 or 30 foot round. Looking at the saltwater 8000 and LX from the pool factory and the saltwater ultimate from Royal swimming pools. Went to several pool dealers this weekend and of course they all tried to steer me clear of the salt water, but they also didn't really have any "salt water pools" for sale. Any reason to be afraid of saltwater with any of my proposed pools?? Probably going with the circupool RJ45 or + for the SWG. Aqua Pro 24" 2hp 2speed sand filter. Was also wanting to go with a 25ga expandable overlap liner so we can bowl the center of the pool deeper. But if we do this the foam boards underneath the pool wouldn't work would they?? Would love to hear your suggestions and experiences!! I'm sure that will be many more questions to follow. Thanks for the great info here!!!

For a saltwater pool resin is your friend-uprights, rails, coping, etc. Make sure they will warranty the wall if you do get a SWG system.

Foam on a dished bottom. How dished are you thinking? It might make for some interesting cuts but it might be able to be done.

Pick the biggest your one you can fit in your spot then! Fun times!

When you are saying bowl it will you have the edge by the walls kind of flat so it can be walked on or will you bowl right from the walls?

After reading on here all day I'm leaning towards the cartridge filter. I'm guessing if i bowl the bottom of a 27' round pool it will be in the 18000-19000 gallon range. Is a 190 sq ft filter big enough for this pool. It is the biggest one the pool factory lists in their packages. It is a Aquapro 2hp 2 speed.

Which test kit do I need to get for saltwater?

Test kit is the TF 100. You can also get the K1766 for salt. Both available at TFTestkits.net

I would think with that volume of pool a larger filter system would be necessary. You might have to go to a more normal pool equipment supplier like INYOpools.

I have a 240 sq ft cartridge filter for my 6000 gallon pool. Oversized, but oh so nice. Clean it once a year.

Take care.

We purchased the Saltwater 8000 from the pool factory. The service was very good, they always answers the phone and any questions that we had. The delivery was fast and everything came in one bundle on a pallet. Very happy with the quality of the pool.
