Starting to look better...but.

Marty's probably helped more through the exchange process than anybody on here. You're in great hands with him.

Can you take a picture of the light? If it's the kind held on with one screw, you can remove that screw and the whole light can come out. It's also somewhere that needs to be checked for algae and cleaned out (the light niche).

Great job on checking the CYA again... I know all this is a pain, but you are going to be an expert on managing your pool!

Wow you drained a lot. I would start filling it immediately. If you have another hose I would also keep the sides of the pool wet. You dont want that plaster to dry out.

I think you mentioned that you open up the light and scrubbed behind, but if you did not do that, now is a really good time. Also get the remaining water up to SLAM level while filling.

That's great with your drain. You have more nerve that I would have but looks like it worked out for you. You should have your CYA in great shape when you fill. Please post a set of test results when you fill and we'll go from there. What's the FC level now? Based on your previous results you'll probably still need to SLAM. But looking at your water clarity it should be short.

You continue to make huge progress. Congrats!

Yeah, I scrubbed all the gunk out from behind the light.

Did a quick test while its filling:

FC = 1ppm (up from .5 last test)
CC = 5ppm (down from 15ppm last test)

I'd add .5 gal bleach now and each day to keep algae from growing until you're ready to SLAM. It's hot and sunny here now. Perfect for algae.

Chris

Yes, add it now while it is filling. Mix it with a brush. The sooner you start the sooner it will end. Less water = less algae now as you pumped it out. But they are continuing to multiply.

Add .5 gallon as Chris suggested. Test again in an hour and keep adding chlorine.

Added the .5 gallon, tested after 45 minutes. These number are drastically changing:

FC = 7ppm
CC = 1.5ppm

I thought those changes were pretty drastic, so I did a 2nd test, this time on the low end. Opposite end of where I poured the chlorine, to see if its circulating. Here is what I got on the low end:

FC = 4.5ppm
CC = 1.5ppm

Ok, I added .5 gallons of chlorine twice before going to work. Let the pool fill while I was at work. When I got home I added another .5 gallons and ran the full set of tests again after an hour of running the pump.

FC = 4
CC = 1
pH = 7.3
TA = 140
CH = 350
CYA = 30 (This one I want to do again tomorrow, in the sunlight)
