Started up my pool this year and I have a film on the water and weird looking suds which I’ve never seen before. Haven’t done anything different

I added some shock that I used in the past after I saw this and also put in some sand filter cleaner in the skimmer the day before. Ran it through the filter and let it soak for 8 hours. I will check again today after running the filtration for 24 hours. I think it’s some reaction to the RV anti freeze that I added in the fall. Although no different then in the past?!

Not sure what sand filter cleaner is comprised of but we recommend deep cleaning your sand filter with water.
You need to do the
SLAM Process with liquid chlorine to rid the pool of algae.

Your sand filter is going to get a work out on this one. You can also put a t-shirt or such inside your skimmer basket to help catch some of whatever that is. Just make sure to keep an eye on it so it does not get gunked up and stop the water flow.

I have to wonder if they changed the formula and that is what caused the problem. No matter as it can be fixed by doing to SLAM as @Mdragger88 said. Get a lot of liquid chlorine, making sure it is "fresh", and going to work on it.

Good luck and we are here to help you if you need it or to :kim: you on as you clear your pool!
