I noticed a yellow brown stain about 5 days ago in my deep end near the ladder. I tried to brush it. Didn’t make a difference. Pool store said to try the vitamin c. I did that and felt like it made a difference meaning it’s iron. But now it seems to be back again. Tested water again. The copper went down from .5 to .4 so the pool store said it could be copper but not to do the metal out. To keep trying the vitamin c tablets which I put in a sock and attach to my brush. I can’t tell if it’s getting better or if it just looks different in different lights. We have had TONS of rain. Pool over flowed this year. All we do is pump out water. Have not needed to add water all summer. Could that play a roll?

It looks like your ladder is rusting which could be putting the iron into the water.

I would replace the ladder.
