Thanks for the compliment, but it wasn't me, ajw22 is much better at that.
I don't get that far into the intricacies of testing that far. Its actually cheaper for the customer if I don't start testing that far into the system. Usually a visual inspection, even a small tear-down, is enough to recommend whether to spend on a repair or save for a replacement. As you have experienced, firing the "parts cannon" is not always an economical way to work on an older piece of equipment.

Not much corrosion, the Coil was a little, i took a wire brush to it and cleaned off what i could.

How did the 2 holes in the flame holder happen if not from corrosion?
So I have most everything back together but have a dilemma before testing the fix.
Since i just used the High Temp Gasket *(the red stuff) when i put everything back together,
the tube says to wait 24 hours for a 'full cure'.
Do I wait or fire it up ? What would you guys do ?

here is a pic of the flame holder after i put the nuts/bolts.
When pulling everything apart, I am fairly certain the 'flame holder insert' was not seated properly, and causing a very uneven burn in the flame holder. I'm hoping i am correct, but it was almost like the 'Insert' had fallen inside the flame holder and was leaning at a 33 degree angle. You guys every see or hear anything like that ?

If all else fails, follow the instructions.
Holes in the flame holder may be the issue. Guessing that is what the bolts are filling. There was a lot of corrosion on the top of that tube.
Its not as well known, but the small "flame sensing" current actually travels through the flame to the ground (in this case that assembly). The corrosion could have been in the right spot to prevent that. The holes, if they were burn-throughs, may have directed the flame in such a way that it couldn't travel the correct path. Its a guessing game from here.
Happy days are here again...Started up heater and its been running for over an hour.
