I’m a second year pool owner starting from 0 knowledge and have learned a ton already… but I cannot defeat the spiders. Come this time of year they show up and there are at least 20 in my pool, especially in the corners. I live in the woods so I know bugs are part of the game but… not in my pool. We hired a pest control company, I’ve sprinkled diatomaceous earth around my pool, sprayed peppermint essential oil, last year we noticed there was a gap between the top of the pool and the pool tile so we caulked all the way around it to keep them from having somewhere to live. They move along the surface of the water so I thought if I could alter the surface tension so they can’t stand on it they might leave. I bought something called “surface magic” from Jacks Magic because there didn’t seem to be a specific product for this, but to no avail. Now what I do is spray them with peppermint oil every time before I go in the pool and then scoop their corpses out… but it’s annoying and I am left in a state of constant vigilance. Has anyone dealt with this before, and if so, how do I get these guys to move on?!?IMG_2929.jpegIMG_2930.jpeg

Welcome to TFP! They are always in our pool. The skimmer is the worst because that's when I usually end-up touching them by mistake. Eeekkk! Doing the best you can with insecticides around the pool perimeter is probably your best option. I just sprinkled a ton of granules around ours because of spiders, scorpions, and beetles galore.

Thank you very much… I’ll give that a try!
