Looks to me you have a RS8.

I would prefer if @PoolGate would guide you on the exact mechanics. He has this system and is very knowledgeable about it.
 
You need to open up the high voltage panel of the Aqualink and see if you have available relays.

Open it up and post pics of it.
 
I believe you have the high voltage panel open in your picture above. Just expand the area you are taking the picture of to show the electronics below the grey panel.
 
Not unless you want to control the spa and pool light together. You have 4 relays. One is for the pump . The other three are used by Spa blower, Pool light, and Spa light.

You cannot add a relay without replacing the motherboard. And at that, best to get a new automation system.
 
Then the aux3 relay is available. Just follow the changing of the dip switches as shown in the Wiki linked above and away you go.

You can add relays since your system said it was a PS8. Those relays are usually about $25. Easy to add and a PS8 should allow up to 8 relays. You'll need to program them in though. Do you have just the PDA or can you control this from any other interface like a phone?

The dip switches are in the upper left of the load panel to the left of the control panel. See section 7 of the AquaLink RS Control Panel Installation Manual.[5] Older AquaLink boards have a single set of dip switches. Newer boards have a second set of dip switches.

@PoolGate, I only have the PDA, no phone control. We’re looking to upgrade to a new automated system that can also control the new VSP, but for now, I need to roll with what we’ve got. If I just need to disconnect the spa light and then switch some wires so that aux 3 now controls the spa overflow, that would be awesome.
 
With a PS8 you should be able to do it all. Download the PDA/Aqualink instructions on how to program. What exactly does your PDA say when it boots up? RS or PDA based system?

I’ve been reading through the instruction manual but am confused. It says the AUX relay socket must be empty, but are they talking about the one with the red and black wire underneath the main control panel with the grey buttons? If I unplug that, it will just magically work? I’m thinking there must be another step.
 
The relays are to add electrical circuits. You don't need them per se to run anything unless you have to switch power on/off. For instance, the JVAs (power controller for valves) each use an AUX circuit, but do not need an actual relay to go through. The fact that it is a PS8 means it supports 8 auxiliary circuits. But 4 JVAs. How many do you have now? Here is a guide for the system you will see yours on there.

You'll need to tell Aqualink what you want each circuit to do. The below is what you would see if you had an RS system. It is the same for the PDA system but you have to use the clunky PDA to do everything. There should be a PDA menu map online so you can see the steps to take.
