Spa losing water when floor skimmer is On

Hey all, new homeowner and a first time pool owner. All was fine until yesterday. We have a pool spa combo with the spa overflowing into the pool. The Spa lost about 6 inches in about 30 minutes yesterday. I turned the pump off and the water level remained the same. I turned the pump back on and turned the floor skimmer off and the spa water level rose about 4 inches. When I turn the floor skimmer on the spa water level drops. Any clue as to why it only drops when the skimmer is on?

What the heck is a "floor Skimmer"? Do you have an in-Floor cleaning system with pop up heads or ?????
