My PB installed the wrong color flagstone coping on our raised spa. The new coping will come in after the spa is plastered and filled. Should I be concerned that they will cause damage when they remove the wrong coping and switch with the new coping?

Thank you!

What is the interface between the top of the tile and the coping? If there is grout it will need to be regrouted.

It really depends how skilled a mason your builder has. If he takes his time he should be able to do it without any damage.

What type of waterline tile do you have?

Post pics of the coping and tile they will be dealing with.

The mason is going to need to be careful to not damage or chip the glass tile as the coping is removed.

If it were me, I would have them remove the coping now... that way if tile is damaged, it can be repaired without having to deal with the plaster. If you wait, and then they damage something, it will be a bigger deal. Even if they just remove it and "tack" it down with very little mortar so that it pops right off when the time comes. Any damage that will happen should be at removal and it's a whole lot easier to fix today and after the plaster is in.

Just my opinion though.

I would hold on plastering until the spa coping is replaced.
