The pool rope finally broke. Not sure exactly what it is called. Safety rope with floats, maybe.
The floats and ends are still usable.
The rope is made from Hollow Braid Polypropylene. It reminds me of the old school finger trap, you push the rope together and the braid opens up...but pull and it tightens up.
The rope lays flat when pressure is applied.
A search turns up lots of hits for various diameters. But I am not sure the diameter of the rope. Is the diameter measured when flat or when relaxed?
Does anyone know of the method to measure the diameter?
Does anyone have a source for the rope?

May run to the home center and see if I can match the diameter. Especially, now that I can safely hack a length of the rope off and stick it in my pocket.

Thanks.

You can measure across the top of the end of the rope. It is probably 1" rope. You can buy safety ropes complete with floats around $20 or just buy rope, cut to length, and string on the old floats and have plenty left over. I think your local home center should have the size rope you need. You might want to pick up a couple of stainless steel carbiners to anchor the new rope.

Thanks for the reply.
That's EXACTLY what I thought!
Buy rope, string floats, DONE! HOWEVER, no one had anything close.
So, I broke down and bought one from the pool supply store. :(
Paid too much. But, I like to keep local guys in business. Really convenient to go get something as opposed to internet shopping.
Oh, well.
