SoCal *Splash* Pool

Thanks Dirk and Kathy! I appreciate the help!!! I wish I knew if the Pinterest pic was indeed 3" coping. Looks like it could be . . . I'm fairly certain the two pics I posted have no more that 2" thick coping— I'll try to reach out and find out. It seems like 3" of cement coping on top of a 12" wall would look disproportionate and "heavy?" Dirk, We're going with the glass tile shown in my Avatar pic for the wall and this 6x6 for the waterline:

Dirk, I hear what you are saying about the two surface thicknesses matching - that is what I want! I just never envisioned 3" . . . All the pre-cast tile coping is smaller, and I was picturing ours would be too. But I think you're right. I will definitely give this some more thought. Thank you!

Nice pictures. Just want to point out that sometimes you need to bleed air out of our filter and with that comes some water. I see you have it on your porch. I bought a hose at Home Depot and zip tied it to the nozzle by the gauge and ran the hose down to the ground. Something you may want to consider.
Also, the filter has a drain plug on bottom - just need to be aware where that will go when you do a full clean on your filter 1 or 2 times a year.

Two most excellent points Herman makes. The water coming out of the gauge when you need to bleed air out of the filter is pool water, relative clean (but not fresh water). It'll just squirt out a bit as you tighten back up the valve. The water coming out of the drain plug will be filthy, most of the sludge that collects in the filter. I've written before here about plans to somehow convert that plug to a valve or hose bib, so I could drain off the water to some other part of my yard through a hose, but I've yet to implement that. The nasty water slushes out over my pad and collects in the surrounding river rock border, embedding itself permanently for the most part. Yuck!

In your case, it's going to run out across your patio and slime it pretty well. Had the heater and filter locations been swapped, you might have been better off. Technically, it's not too late to do that.

If I come up with a solution for the drain plug valve idea, I'll share it.

Thank you very much for the info. Appreciated! I'll run this by my husband to see what he thinks . . .

Well that sounds lovely! :( (NOT!!!) Thanks, Dirk, I'm not sure about switching spots with the heater (I requested those flip-flopped positions initially, but can't remember why we changed it.) Not sure it would help though as we will be pouring concrete or laying brick where the heater is . . .
