1.5 FC is quite low - wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine you’re smelling the presence of organics in your water. Is your Taylor test kit still in the mail?
You’re inviting algae & other unsanitary things to grow by letting it get that low.
Always stay above minimum for your cya.
There are also no inbetweens for the cya test so if between two values round up.
Your cya is 40 - dose to high target & replenish before you reach minimum.
Since this has been a regular occurrence you should do an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test at target fc levels to be sure nothing is brewing.
If you fail —> SLAM Process
If you pass - maintain as outlined above
A good test to see if you have organic growth is Overnight Chlorine Loss Test. You’ll want FC up to 7ppm or more to give enough FC to get a good reading.
If you pass the OCLT, then you don’t need to SLAM. But if OCLT is a fail, then yep, time for SLAM Process.
I figured since my daily FC loss was the same as always ( about 2ppm from night before ) that the problem wasn’t organic growth but I’ll do it to be sure!
