Small Pool Build - Brisbane, Australia [emoji1037]

OMG, you'll be swimming soon! Seriously you have to do it...don't wait until next summer! You have a heater, right?

We have a heater! It gets commissioned on Monday but I’m not sure if we will be able to run it then or not. Will leave it up to the heat pump company to say when I can actually heat the pool. Even then I’m not sure... it has literally turned arctic overnight [emoji30]

Missed the acid wash and start of the fill even though I rushed home early from work. Water is going in. Forgot to set up the flow meter amidst all the crazy morning rush. Never mind. I can check water meter now I guess and see how much is going in per hour then add the 3 hours it’s already been going for approximately. They removed the sock from one hose and just used that one hose. The other hose is currently unused with the sock still attached [emoji35] Also there is a splash of water on the bench and a little running out of one return thingy. I’m not going to attempt to mop it up. Seems to be filling pretty quickly so hopefully won’t be a drama. Also I won’t put the second hose in as they want it to fill consistently. Happy with how it looks and how it’s filling. Today is extremely windy and we have a fair few leaves in the pool from our neighbour’s trees. They will be easy enough to remove. Rather today than yesterday during plaster.

Wow - Looks real nice so far....!

Did you get your plumbing done today with your friend?

Yes - All plumbed up to the inside of the plant room.

Still need to connect filter's waste outlet to the pipe but a job for another day as I need to get the tiler back to finish off tiling before I can run the waste pipe inside the plant room, however the hard bit is done.

BTW - I found this last night... Backwash Hose Standard - with Hose Clamp 50mm x 15m - Wholesale Pool & Spa Supplies Pty Ltd

Also available in 40mm if needed.

Thanks! First day of jumper weather here today lol. Good work on getting the hard stuff done. We have found it’s all the little jobs that do take time and some things have to wait for other things to be done first. Thanks for the link. I think I’ve seen that website before. I think I might just go to the dreaded pool store as I don’t want to risk it not arriving in time. Start up chemicals go in Monday so they may want to backwash not long after that. It has been on my list for ages and I’m annoyed at myself for not getting one sooner.

My mate and I were running the waste plumbing in the rain yesterday...! At least the glue we used works while submerged in water.

I think we will be in the situation where our pools will be open just in time for winter...:(

Yup [emoji31] We kind of knew that when we started. Was just hoping we would be on the earlier side of the 10-12 weeks than that latter. We are 10 days over contract time, which isn’t bad given the weather delays. I’m trying to look at it in a positive way - that we will have plenty of time to tidy things up and get to know our pool chemistry without harsh sun and high bather load. Come summer it will be all ready for us to sit back, relax and enjoy our pools.

Awesome test kit going cheap [emoji6]

Can you believe this kit? I told my pb the other day that I was happy to test for him between visits and relay the data to him and adjust to his requirements as I have a test kit ready to go. His response was that they will take care of it all and that we provide you with a test kit so you didn’t need to buy one lol.

While the PH test is OK (and possibly TA) the rest is pathetic - No ability to test for FC and so on.....

I guess it could get you out of a pinch... like you when you were waiting on your ccl kit. Looks like a children’s toy to me. In fact, I might take it off the market and let my 11 year old chemistry mad son use it. He can test along side me. Will let him use the real one when he’s competent.

LOL what a cute little test kit  It IS better than one "testing materials" that was given to a new pool owner.....the PB gave them a opened bottle of SAMPLE test strips!!!!

The pool is looking GREAT! Loving the color. Now remember that it might look a little green in the beginning. This is normal. It will change to it's true color as the plaster cures and the water gets balanced.

Gurrrrrrrrrr on taking the sock off and only using one hose......REALLY?????

An opened bottle of test strips?! Wow, guess I did pretty well then. Going to donate it to my 11 year old to use. He will be happy with it.

I had heard about the initial green water and the plasters mentioned it yesterday too. It’s about the only thing they said that I agreed with. They did a good job overall, but they have really rubbed me the wrong way. Glad I won’t be seeing them again. So pleased that I confiscated the hoses with the brass ends. I would bet money they would have thrown one of those in if they had the chance.

Quick question, we have quite a few leaves in the pool that have blown in with the high winds today. Should I try and get as many out once it’s full before I start brushing? Was thinking if I brushed first I might push the leaves onto the pebble accidentally and stains it. Have my brushes and leaf net ready to go first thing in the morning once it’s full. Have the wall whale plus the provided brush from pb. Will see which I find easier. You don’t happen to know which setting is for new pools on the wall whale? I read a while ago there is a new pool setting but the instructions don’t specify.
