Small Pool Build - Brisbane, Australia [emoji1037]

I am sure the look on your face when he said that will stop that comment from being said again LOL

Kim:kim:

One would think so but we will see! I think if it keeps popping up I might be tempted to tell him I’ve organised a pool service and what a great job they’re doing. I can then spend a ridiculous amounts of money on massages [emoji23] Technically that would be paying for a pool service imo. Only kidding... maybe!

So ph probe now reading accurately. The auto dosing still doing nothing to bring ph down as it should. Give up for now. Just dosing it through the chlorinator to keep it in check.

Today we had to say goodbye to our dog with the hip injury. It turned out to be a very aggressive form of bone cancer. She was 6 years old and the most beautiful natured dog we have ever owned. We are devastated.

Grinder is meant to be coming this morning to grind the concrete back on the patio and path. Can you hear the cynicism?! It’s not the pb but a different company but I have obviously lost all trust. Anyway pool is covered with a tarp as well as pool cover after the dust issues with the last lot of grinding.

Waiting here for the grinding guy and a big truck pulls up with a huge big box on that back - the slide! Terrible timing if the grinding guy shows [emoji31] Hopefully it will all work out.

Grinder turned up. Took about 4 hours to grind the patio and back path that had previously been surfaced. Oh the dust! So much dust. It was a ‘light’ grind but there was a cm of dust everywhere. They did a really good job of cleaning up after themselves. Glad I put the tarp on the pool though. First used the handheld blower to blow all the dust away from the edge then had my eldest help me carefully fold the tarp in on itself. We managed to get it off without dumping anything on to the solar cover underneath. During the grind one side of the tarp did slip down. It was so bad outside that I wasn’t going out there to correct it. I would say 99% of the dust was caught on the tarp. I am still expecting a cloudy pool but will know why this time. Will run Jeff tomorrow and leave filter running. Gave the decking a good hose to get rid of the residual dust.

Resurfacing won’t happen for at least 2 weeks as local kennel is booked out for the school holidays. We will send our dog there for 3 days as we are resurfacing all around the house and patio and it will need to be traffic free for 48 hours. I have a plan to get to the pool during that time. The equipment pad I am still figuring out. I can at least see the chlorinator and read it from the laundry door.

Slide... is still where the courier driver left it. Can barely get my car out of the garage. Wonder how long it will stay there for?

I am not going to say anything re my auto acid dosing just yet as I don’t want to jinx myself. Hoping I can positively update soon.

More dust...eek...

...and probably really fine dust which tends to get into everything.

At least the pool has been protected against the majority of dust ingress - good idea with regards to the tarp.

Pool should survive the 48 hrs with requiring any major adjustment to the equipment - I had my pool pump disconnected all day the other day, and I did not bother with chlorination for the one day (24Hrs) - although it is reasonably cold here - water temp below 10C during the day!

Just overshoot slightly on your Chlorine & PH just before the work is carried out so you can run the 48Hrs without any intervention from yourself.

Okay............so who wants in on the betting????

Slide installer will show up RIGHT after the decking is done!

Liz, good job taking care of the water with the tarp. Good team work with your kid to get it off the pool without dumping anything in the pool.

Very fine dust but these people actually used all the right protective gear and were very professional. The tarp was worth it if I never use it again. It worked a treat.

I think the pool will be ok as you said for 48 hours. Timing is probably right as my FC is pretty stable at 7.5 and ph touch wood at 7.7 right where I want it. I’m only testing every second day or so now which I am finding much less stressful and I’m starting to get to understand it’s behaviour better.

Yesterday my eldest had a friend who wanted to come over. I said sure tell him to pack his swimmers if it’s ok with his parents. So the 3 boys swam for a good hour and a half and wore themselves out. I sat watching them thinking that this is what it is all about. Bonus being that it’s the middle of winter and my youngest doesn’t turn blue!

That had better not happen! I actually wouldn’t be surprised. That or I come home and find it installed in some bizarre location. Sigh.

Yes I was waiting for my son to drop the end of the tarp or move it the wrong way. He did well. After seeing what that small amount of grinding did to the water I was not having significantly more dust enter the water. Will see how it looks tomorrow when I pull the cover back. My guess is a bit cloudy but not nearly as bad as it would have been. As long as my numbers are good then I know it will clear with time.

Is there ANY way you can lock it up or "hide" it so they will not just show up to install it??

Next would be to take a pic and put the words with an arrow saying "Put slide HERE!" Put it in a plastic bag and tape it on the box.

Kim:kim:

Thing is I am not totally sure where exactly I want it. I want to be here so I can see the best/safest location. Also logistically speaking as it will take up the whole width of the deck. We will be able to walk under it but want it angled to make this as easy as possible. Agh. I might just a stick a big note on the box to say not to be installed without owner present.
