TL/DR;
A) Does the Chlorine drop test water sample normally turn pink several minutes AFTER doing the FC and CC tests?
B) Does a solar cover disrupt the SLAMing process?
Details...
A) Leslies says I have high CC but ...
I am going to attempt my first SLAM for my pool after getting low FC 0.5 and high CC 3.93 at Leslies. They have said several times over the years 'there is just something wrong with your pool' as it kept eating chlorine at high rates. This is the highest CC I've ever had but after having CYA reach 137 last year from too-many-pucks and having to drain+fill my trust in them is very low.
When I use the TF-100 kit for the Chlorine Drop Test I get CC levels between 0.5 and 1.0 every time.
But this morning, I noticed the drop test cylinder turned pink again several after testing FC and CC.
So I put in another drop of R-0871 and it cleared. Several minutes later it turned light pink again.
I add another drop and it clears. This repeats. Is this normal?
I've put 34 drops in so far and it keeps coming back to pink! (That equates to CC of 17.5 if correct but sounds improbable).
B) I have a somewhat low CYA of 28, up from about 20 before I added some.
As the water is still too cold to swim (for me 70deg is too cold), I put the blue bubblewrap solar cover on.
I _was_ thinking it will help with the temperature and give the SLAM a chance to work before the sun burns away the chlorine, but maybe it would prevent the excess CC from burning off too?
