"0319", I just reviewed your entire thread to catch up. You have a lot of good notes and advice provided, but I want to point out some things that caught my eye.
1. Even though you filled from a local (city) water source, and the pool store test "appears" to show low iron content, it doesn't mean you don't have an iron problem. I don't want to get too distracted by that comment just yet, just be aware it may be an issue later.
Priority right now - being 100% you have eliminated any potential algae first. That brings me to my next point.
2. There were some recent posts where your FC loss was very minimal. I was about to say you passed an OCLT as well. But in your last post (#59) you said you lost 2 ppm of FC overnight, so that's a fail. That confirms you still have a heavy organic load in the water and should continue the
SLAM Process.
3. A SLAM can easily take a week or two. Much depends on the water condition, testing, and diligence to maintain the proper FC level. You just started this adventure about 5 days ago, so I would try to remain patient and let the chlorine do its job. If you are out of the area this weekend, just start back up when you return.
4. Using 5 gallons in 5 days is not bad. We have owners who go through 5 gallons in one day. Albeit your pool isn't as large as some, but you're doing quite well.
5. Your CYA must be accurate. At one point it appears it was below 30 so you added some stabilizer. Just be sure you have a good solid CYA of 30 and no less. Anything less than 30 and the summer sun will take the chlorine too fast during the day.
6. Have you added anything else to the water since you filled it a couple months ago? I noted that one pic of your filter cart, and it almost looked turquoise in color which would point to copper. Iron in the filter would look more orange, and algae green. If that was indeed more of a green color and it washed away fairly well, please confirm. If it is turquoise and doesn't come off at all, we need to know that as well.
7. Are you seeing any staining around the liner?
8. Can you see clearly to the bottom through that shiny green water? Or is it still murky?
For now, maintain the SLAM. Be patient, but know lots of folks are trying to coach you through this in hopes you will get another month or two of good pool time before closing. We're watching.
