I have a 2 hp Hayward single speed pump. The skimmer lid is REALLY stuck. I have the tool to twist the top off and it broke the tool.

I don’t mind buying a new lid as I think mine has a leak that I detected using the water test. The $30 is cheap compared to the aggravation.

So I don’t mind destroying the old lid if I have to. I just need a way to remove it. I don’t know if I could use a dremel to cut it out?

I saw the pictures of the pitchfork idea, but I don’t think the pitchfork would survive.

Any ideas?

Two rubber mallets - gently (progressively) hit both sides of the lid counterclockwise at the same time. You could do this with a single mallet but you have to be a little more careful. It should come out - just stuck with lube/sealer.
