So, I had my pool closed for the winter. Lines blown out and cover installed. This is the 3rd year closing since the pool was built. They put antifreeze in the skimmers/lines and all seemed ok, with a couple of inches of liquid in each skimmer with a rubber plug in the open hole and a Gizmo in the sealed hole. Well, a couple days later, I went to check on things and one skimmer was empty and the other skimmer had about 4 inches of liquid in it(rainwater & antifreeze?)
My concern is a leak in one of the skimmers. At the end of this last swimming season I felt like I was always on the low end of my water level and had to fill a couple of times. I chalked it up to very little rain and evaporation. Now, I'm concerned as I have poured some water into this skimmer and a day later it is almost empty. It is either an unsealed plug or a crack in the skimmer box. I can't see any cracks in the skimmer box. I have called the company who closed it and they are going to come look, but mentioned they won't do a dye test unless the pool is running.
Is there a way to find a leak in a skimmer box with the pool closed, or do I have to wait until spring and get the pool running?
