Hi, I’m not even sure how to search for this problem. First my equipment:

15K gallon pool
Sand dollar pump
Ichlor15

I came home today after a lot of wind and the skimmer was full and the pump was reading 0 pressure (normally 10) I shut off the pump and cleaned the skimmer basket. Started the pump up and now Avery 2-3 minutes the pump pressure drops to 0 then raises to 10 after about 1 min. I released the pressure and cleaned the basket under the pump cover. The gasket looked good. Couple of things I noticed: when the pressure drops to zero and starts running back up to 10 the compartment under the filter cover where the basket is starts filling with water and the pool jets start producing a lot of bubbles? I ran the pump for ten minutes and it didn’t stop. Is this a bad seal on the pum cover? Is it just a bunch of air in the pipes, or do I possibly have something stuck in the pipes? Any help would be great. I will try and post some videos tomorrow? Thanks!

32,

Sounds to me like your skimmer's weir door is sticking up, or your water level in the pool is very low.

Have someone turn on the pump while you look down into the skimmer basket. If all the water is sucked out of the skimmer, then the weir door is stuck up.

Could also have leaves stuck in the pump impeller. With the power off you can remove the pump basket and reach into the pump area and see if you can spin the impeller and feel for any debris.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Ok thanks! I will check that. The pool is lower than normal because we are about to get 3-6 inches of rain so I drained it a bit. That is a great point though and I didn’t even think to watch the door.

Looks like the door isn’t sticking the skimmer continues to have water in it. It almost seems like theirs air in the system

So because of all the rain I had to drain the pool a couple times last night. I sent it directly through the waste valve. I took off the pump cover today and checked the gasket again and re seated the lid. Started the pump up afterwords and everything is working. So I’m guessing whatever was blocking it cleared out? If it keeps running normal am I safe to let it go?
