Simple solar heater?

First, it will only work properly if you lay it out in a configuration such as this:

The tubing must be laid flat out such that the sun hits it, otherwise, it isn't adding much heat.

Second, in the configuration shown above, for each 500' roll, that is only 20 sq-ft of panel surface and even on the hottest day of the summer with 100% sun exposure and 80% panel efficiency, that panel will add less than 0.6 degF. You will need at least 4 rolls but 8 would be more beneficial. These types of panels are typically less efficient than commercial panels which means you need even more surface area for the same heat gain.

Price all the parts out and compare it to commercial panels on a per sq-ft basis for a fair comparison. It is not always economical.
