Should I super chlorinate or add shock?

Hello all, This is our second summer owning a pool, and while I started piddling around with using TFP's advice, I'm ready to actually work at it this season.
Though it was later than we liked, we finally got our rather green pool open and running last weekend. After 8 gallons of liquid bleach and some Alkalinity up per our pool store's guidance, we were able to balance everything and add salt.

Now, 1 week later, after finally getting my own Taylor test kit, I am getting the following numbers:
pH 7.6
TA 110
FC 5
CC 1.5
CYA 70

To lower our CC, can I simply try running the SWG on super chlorinate for 24hrs, or should I go straight to the chlorine? I've vacuumed a few times during the week and we let the pump backwash/rinse twice for 3-5 min each during the process of removing the initial algae, etc. Thanks for all the advice in the forums and pool school. I just want to make sure I am getting off to the right start from what I read and hopefully understood.

Welcome to TFP! The SWG can't handle that kind of fight against algae. Just leave it off. It's all about the proper amount of liquid chlorine based on your current CYA level. As noted on the FC/CYA Levels, that would require a SLAM FC level of "28". Quite a bit higher than you are right now.

Before increasing the FC, be sure to lower the pH down to about 7.2 first, then increase and maintain the FC of 28. Be sure to follow the SLAM Process page carefully for best success. It works well if you stick with it. If you have any questions let us know.

Thanks, Texas Splash!
So according to the calclator I need 4 gallons and 2 qts of 12% bleach to bring the FC up to 28. Then I need to check it every 2-4 hrs and add as much chlorine as needed to get the FC back up to 28, correct? It recommends basically buying about 9 gallons of 12% bleach to have on hand, right? Then once my water is clear, CC is down to .5 or below and I pass the OCLT.
Haven't done an OCLT so I guess that would be a good place to start tonight since I can't get the bleach until Monday?
