Shopping for a SWG and maybe Automation (Edit: Ultimately went with Hayward HLBPLUS4W)

FYI -- the check valve was not necessary. There is nothing created in a SWCG cell that can harm the heater. And you will not have backflow of any of it as when the system shuts down, the SWCG is off also.

Not to say the antiquated ways of some of the manufacturers do not require it. Pentair does not show one in their install instructions of a SWCG.

Btw, the guy that did the install is a certified Hayward, Pentair and I think Jandy warranty representative. Very cool guy and he's actually a TFP'er. I was shocked when I started talking about the forum and he said he's an expert and posts from time to time.

It is great having guys with that experience participating here.

He said that if he goes out to a warranty job and there is no check valve that it's an instant denial from Hayward. So I spent the extra $40.
