Shaking Sand filter.

Welcome to TFP.

Is your pump vibrating?

What is your filter pressure?

Do you have an air purge valve at the top of the filter and have you purges any air in it?

Hi Thank you for the reply.
my problem is that I am in the Uk and my pool is in Cyprus. The guy that supposed to look after my pool messaged me to say that the sand filter is shaking. A new pump has been recently fitted and the sand has been changed. I am that confident that the guy knows what he is doing ? 5998C712-672E-4847-9EB5-87C13731616C.jpeg

If the filter is shaking then something is moving and vibrating. The only moving part is the pump.

I would assume the shaking stops when the pump is turned off?

Someone has to observe what is happening and what is the cause and what is the effect. It could be mechanical or it could be hydraulic.

@mas985 ideas?

Hi
thank you for the reply. I have been informed that the lid on top of the sand filter is leaking. I have told him to put it to recirculate to by pass the sand filter just in case it blows off and floods my pump room. Could this have all been caused by the surge tank being low on water and the pump pumping air into the sand filter. Would that have caused the sand filter to shake and blow the seal on the top ?

I wonder if your pressure gauge is broken and the filter pressure is a lot higher then indicated.

You will get a new pressure gauge when you get a new filter.
