Screen Logic local password setup

I understand there's a way to set up a password for remote access to the system. However, is there a way to set up a password for local access when on the same wifi? My wife has a bad habit of turning the heater on and leaving it on. She's using the app from home. Just received a $335 gas bill as I was out of town and had no idea she left the heater on. Trying to prevent this from happening again.

I don’t think so and @Jimrahbe would know for sure.

You don’t think your wife would learn any local password eventually?

I do not see in my ScreenLogic anyway to set up a Local password. It is designed to be easy to connect.

B,

When I first bring up ScreenLogic it auto-populates the Protocol Adapter address "Pentair FC XX XX" and below that is a password that I leave blank. I think if you add a password there, that it will make you enter it to get into ScreenLogic at all.

I believe that the Remote password that you enter into the ScreenLogic set up pages just allows you to have access to your modem/router so you can do things remotely.

I am not sure what it is that you are trying to keep your wife from doing?

Thanks,

Thanks everyone. It's not that I'm trying to keep her out of anything. I'm trying to figure out an easy way so I'll know that if the heater is turned on so I don't get another $300 gas bill by surprise. Come to find out, it was my 9 year old daughter that grabbed my wife's phone and turned on the heater and didn't turn it back off for 2 weeks until I noticed it. I wasn't aware it was turned on. Other than completely turning off the heater, not sure what the best option would be. Other than physically checking the app everyday (especially since I travel for business), I'm not sure if there's something in the configuration I can do so I can be aware if the heater is left on.

Be happy if $300 is the biggest surprise your daughter gives you over the years.

No matter what you do you have to look at it to know if the heater is left on. You can check the Pentair app or setup a WiFi camera pointed at the heater display to see what its status is.

Do you want folks at home to use the heater while you are away? If not you can put a physical switch to disable the heater when you are away.

B,

Is the heater being used in the Pool mode or just the Spa mode?

One option would be to run your heater control wire through an Aux relay.. Then set up an egg timer on the relay for X hours.. If someone left it on, then it would shut off after X hours. Of course, this means you have to turn the Aux relay on every time you wanted to use the heater.
