Scale/Calcium Any ideas

I am seeing a build-up of scale on the tile Spillover from my Spa. It is almost 100% on one side (which gets the most sun). I have brushed, pick at it with a plastic knife that chips pieces off. Any ideas on how to tackle this? CLR?

That is efflorescence from water getting into the small grout cracks on your spillover, getting into the shell and behind the tiles, and coming out the grout lines.

I will bet the builder did not put a waterproof coating on the shell before the tiles were laid.

I agree, it is getting behind the tile and grout somehow.. You can chip it off and use some 1/2 water with 1/2 muriatic acid sprayed on it and then scrub it with a brush...
