Sand Filter vs. Cartridge Filter

Good Evening, I have been reading all details on this site and I am very impressed. We need your help please I just read a post about the Simple Salt for above ground pool, we bought
our pool in 2017 and have had nothing but issues with cartridge system, hard water, green slimy pool for past years now. The company we purchased from of course claims the system
is okay and now out of warranty. We have never had good suction to use the automatic cleaner that came with our package and when we connect the manual sweeper it will fail with little
to no suction a few minutes later. We have hard water where we live and the Black Diamond cartridges constantly have to be cleaned and it is extremely stressful day after day. We bought
an extra filter last year just so we could trade back n forth to save time. We are considering moving to a sand filter system, your thoughts? And if yes, what system would you recommend? I also agree with the Simple Salt System, I would much rather have Chlorine, it's cleaner in my opinion.

Filters, if sized correctly, all have their pros and cons. The most simple is a sand filter. As long as you do not put pool store potions through it, they will clean your pool water. They use a lot of water to clean.
Cartridge filters are nice because they filter bit more than the sand filter and, if sized correctly, can be cleaned just once or twice a year and you do not use pool water to clean them.

You stated you have water chemistry issues. Filters do nothing for algae, etc. That is managed by proper water chemistry monitoring with your own test kit and using chlorine to maintain the pool clean and sanitary.
