Sand filter pressure high

This may not have anything to do with your pump pressure but it appears you need to correct your salt cells flow direction.
On my CP cell (identical construction) it stipulates installing the electric connection upstream of the flow direction.

Yes, the backwash works fine, this swg is to be installed after the heater, which it is.

U think it could be a faulty sand filter?

Could be a faulty pressure gauge (going back to zero is only one measure of its function). Also, in the spring when I'm cleaning dirt/algae, etc, it may take 3-5 min backwashing to get the pressure back down.

I'd be more inclined to replace the gauge. It's susceptible to damage over the winter. Was it left outside, or did you remove and store it indoors?

It was left outside!

So something just made me think ........ You mentioned earlier in this thread the pressure to the filter remains the same even when the MPV is set to recirculate. That doesn't make sense as no water should be going through to the filter. So I'm starting to wonder if your MPV (spider gasket/Key Assy) is bad? Do all other setting seem to be operating properly?

We know you used clarifier in the past which certainly could compromise the sand and cause increased pressure. That coupled with suspected algae would certainly do it. But that recirculate thing is odd.

Oh! And I also wonder if a ball valve on the pressure side went bad. That would do it no matter what. Those shut off valves are not as reliable a standard 3-way valves.
