Sand Filter not filtering Algae

Hi,
I've treated my pool for Algae as there was a bloom after the last thunderstorm. The Kreepy Krauly is now trying to vacuum up the dead algae on the pool bottom, but I noticed that the return inlet is just pumping the algae straight back into the pool. Is the sand filter not supposed to be able to filter algae? How do I correct this?

Welcome to the forum
NO FILTER gets rid of live algae. That's the function of chlorine.

Your filter is probably clogged up completely. Backwash it thoroughly when you see a pressure rise of 25%

When you say you "treated for algae"....what did you do exactly? How do you know if you killed the algae entirely?

How do you test your water?
