Looking for some input to where to position my sand filter laterals at ! I removed my old sand and installed new sand I put my laterals in touching the sides of the filter base to keep the pipe straight then funnel the sand in with the guide in place .My question is should I have raised the laterals a little higher from the base when pouring in sand so the lateral won’t touch the sides ,due to the pressure from the sand being poured in Thxs

Sounds like a Hayward filter. Laterals must be in the locked position, straight out.
