Saltwater Pool Disaster!

We have the salt test kit, and will use it before adding any more salt. Since this is a new fill, we put in 240 lbs of salt after the pool was full and circulating, so it's in around 900 ppm.
I'm heading out to get bleach for SLAM, and will start today. Should I gradually add salt? What about CYA? And CH increaser?

You don’t don’t need CH increaser as you have a vinyl pool! Just needs to be above 50 is all, yours is at 100, your good there.

Just one thought…I think 40, 40lb bags is way to much. 20 bags in my 30k pool got me to 3200. 40 might put you close to 6000-7000 if you have 900 + slam. If you add too much, you will be draining.

You're right, of course! I don't know what I was looking at, when I typed in 40 bags, but I realized the mistake afterward. Thanks for catching that, and making sure I didn't REALLY make a mess of things!

I added liquid chlorine 1 1/2 hours ago--should I test now, adjust, and then test again in a few hours?

SLAM process is underway, but just as I was getting the hang of testing, calculating, adding, testing, etc., we've had rain all night, and still coming down. I've added dry stabilizer THROUGH THE SKIMMER (didn't see the sock tip, till now), within the last 12-24 hours, to raise it to 30.
With the water level just above the skimmer box, and rising, should I dump water through WASTE, to avoid backwash, so soon after adding CYA?

Unfortunately, that stabilizer won't dissolve for several days as it is just sitting in the filter without being squeezed like it would by the sock method. So when you do backwash, which you will have to do soon, that stabilizer could easily get flushed out. That won't apply if you lower the water level by pumping directly to WASTE to control overfill, but I wanted you to be aware. Yes, I would pump to waste now if you need to. Test the CYA over the weekend, but don't be surprised if it's still very low.

Pumped off approx 2 inches of water--CYA stayed at 30.
The FC dropped from 12 to 9, overnight-- how much was that due to rain?

As often as you can. The more the better. Every 1-2 hours will make the SLAM go faster!!!
