Saltron Mini question

Its been ordered, I think it gets here tomorrow, where should I keep the level?
Around 30ppm - it only takes a small amount so measure carefully as to not overshoot your target. Use the sock method just like in the pool.

You lost me with the sock method.
You add the cya granules to a sock 🧦 or skimmer sock, tie a knot in it, hang it in front of a return , squeeze the sock to dissolve the granules. This happens pretty quickly in a hot tub because the water is hot.
This method is the recommended way to add granular cya to your pool as well.
Tiny amounts for a spa can be a little hard to measure which is why most people use dichlor instead. I have had my tub for 5 years & I am just now on my 3rd 1# container of dichlor.
The hotter temps of a spa make cya degrade more quickly so using dichlor every now & then is an easy way to replenish it. I use a little every couple weeks for this purpose . I keep my tub 104*

Interesting, seems all I ever see is the trichlor stuff, even with the little tabs. So trichlor is ok for the pool but not the tub?

Yes - it is too hot in the tub (& closed up) for the trichlor.
Here’s what I use - they used to have the spa selection brand in 1# containers for $10 but have switched over to hth in bigger containers now
HTH Spa Care Clear Chlorinating Sanitizer for Spa & Hot Tubs, 2.25 lbs. (Pool Chemicals)
HTH Spa Care Clear Chlorinating Sanitizer for Spa & Hot Tubs, 2.25 lbs. (Pool Chemicals) - Walmart.com
There are several brands- just make sure it’s 99% dichlor
Leisure time is another common one

So it says it's in stock at a Walmart not too far from me, I may go get a bottle and use the conditioner I ordered in the pool, I'll have to check the pool for CYA levels if any..

So you use this along with your SWG, when and how much do you use?

I have a small scale so I use that to measure if I’m going to use granular cya in the tub to prevent using too much.
I use a small adjustable plastic measuring spoon for dichlor & such.
In a covered tub cya’s main job is moderating the harshness of chlorine but just like in a pool it also provides the chlorine some protection from the sun if left uncovered.

I just use
PoolMath & use it to chlorinate instead of bleach on occasion.
Effects of adding will show you how much cya each addition adds & how it will affect ph.
I don’t rely on my swg for all my chlorine needs - its main job is standby chlorination. For anything other than a quick 1 person soak I add bleach or dichlor if needed.
