Good morning everyone. We have had our saltwater pool for about 3 years now. It seems like the saltwater is deteriorating the metal pool cover anchors. Any thoughts on how to slow this down? Would something CLR work? Thanks

Brass won’t break down with salt water, I’ve installed anchors on tons of pools with brass anchors with no breakdown. Unsure of what you mean by breaking down?

That’s been our experience as well. Even after 18 years with a salt pool there is no corrosion of the cover anchors.

Sure guys maybe not breaking down but just discolored and doesn’t operate as smoothly

See all the dirt in the threads? That is creating friction. Clean the dirt from the threads. On the screw and in the socket.

Folks talk about lubing them but lube can attract dirt. If you feel you must lube them use a thin lube like WD040.

Color change is what brass does when outdoors.
