Ok I added salt when it said low salt. According to my test I have roughly 3390 ppm salt. I have tried cleaning swg but had no luck and not sure I even did it correctly. Could you please tell mr how to clean cell and what else I should do? I have 1 fc in pool now. About to go buy bleach before algae starts to bloom

What I did was unplug unit from 110 v, close water valve before and after SWG, unscrew and remove element from SWG, soak in vinegar for 1 hr, agitating every 15 min.
Just make sure all the white crud is dissolved, reassemble (including remembering to open the valves back up. . .), and Lord willing, you'll be good to go.
Pete

I can't figure out exactly where cell is. I found copper thing but not other. I went through manual and I guess I'm just not understanding where and how to remove it

After running various SWG's over the past 7 years, I always carry a gallon of 10% bleach in my pool shed, and I am not afraid to use it!! Spring for start up and fall for draw down.
It allows me to bump my FC to target levels within 15 minutes giving me a 24 hour window to figure out what is going wrong with the SWG.

Great idea!

Inside the clear plastic tube that the water flows through is the cell. It should have grey metal plates held together with a black plastic 'skeleton'.

Unless the grey metal plates are covered in white buildup, there is really no need to clean it.

Are you still getting the low salt warning?

Yes I'm gonna try cleaning again tomorrow

Every time you clean the plates you also remove a bit of the chemical coating on them that is needed to produce chlorine. Unnecessarily cleaning them is just removing more of that chemical coating, shortening the lifespan of the cell's ability to produce chlorine.

Is the cell covered in scale?

I had this problem a few weeks ago with an Intex SWG. I found another thread here that said to change the polarity of the cell. If the SWG is running, unplug it. If your SWG is similar to mine, there are 2 cables running from the control box on the SWG to the clear piping where the water runs through. One runs to the top of the pipe to a set of copper plates. The other runs to one end of the clear piping, this is the cell. Pull the cable off the end of the cell, turn it over and re-attach it. Then plug the SWG back in. That's all it took to fix mine.

I tried this. Still threw error

So I'm still not sure what to do here. I found a summer waves system for $49 on Wal-Mart.com but I'm flat broke. I saw a video on you tube where you disable the control panel and set it up on a timer through plug. Im not sure about this any thoughts? Really how could I screw it up anymore. Its not working now. Anyone with experience with this?
