Salt Water Drying Skin

I have a new Hayward AquaRite 9000 salt generator for my ~40K gunite pool. I previously had an older salt generator that needed to be replaced. My system is noting the salt level is between 3100-3200 ppm. I went swimming today and my skin is completely dried out and peeling already. Does the salt level directly correlate with the chlorine level? Meaning, if I keep my ppm within that range, is the chlorine level sufficient? My old salt generator never dried our skin.

The salt level in the pool, other than it being in the range for the SWCG to generate, has no relationship to the chlorine generated by the SWCG.
