salt vs mineral (Nature Pro) systems

Mineral systems do help avoid algae but don't sanitize water. So you need a sanitizer which does that AND avoids algae.
The biggest problem with mineral systems is that they contain metals which build up and cause staining, or worse yet, green hair and nails on blonds.
Salt systems are a miracle....been in use since the '80s, and what surprises folks most is that ALL pools build up salt levels as each chemical added to a pool breaks down and leaves a bit of salt behind. So why not use that to your advantage? You add a bit more to "feed" the device and it does the magic of making chlorine from it. Most of us here would never own a pool without our salt systems.

Here's the thread listing the kill times of chlorine, copper and silver for the common ickies they'll need to sanitize.

We have a Nature plus mineral sanitizer and wonder if i would be better with a salt system.
Yup! :goodjob: Mineral systems typically add copper which is no bueno. An SWG is the way to go. If you start shopping for one, be sure to get one rated for at least 2X the size of your pool so it's not overwhelmed.

Oh, and welcome to TFP!

If you believe you have algae, keep in mind no SWG or other system will eliminate it. To remove algae, we follow the SLAM Process using liquid chlorine. Having a proper test kit (TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C) is a must. See my signature for the TF-100.

Final thought. Be sure to update your signature with all of you pool and equipment details. That info is extremely helpful when we reply to your posts. See my signature as an example. If you're on a phone, you may have to turn it to landscape to see the signature fields at the bottom of each post.
