Salt pool drops form 3600ppm to 100ppm?

So 3 or 4 weeks ago my salt was a little low (2200ppm).
I put four bags of salt in, which pushed it up to 3800ppm ( a little high).
It eventually settled in at around 3200ppm about 2 weeks ago.

Yesterday I noticed some algae on the steps and walked over to check the salt level.
To my shock, it read 100ppm.. not 1,000 but 100!

We've had this pool for 4 years and never have I seen it drop that much.
We've had some rain (not a lot) and the kids do splash a bit, but i've only filled it once (probalby 4" of water in 12k gallon pool).

Are you actually testing the salt level or looking at the screen?

My bet is you have an equipment malfunction and all the salt is still there.

I'm just looking at the screen read out on the chlorinator.
Well I went down to the store and got the salt test strips and it's still reading only <750ppm on the strip.

Get the Taylor salt test. It uses titration and the result are extremely reliable.

You can buy the individual salt test Tom is referencing here: K-1766 Taylor Salt Test. I own it and it's worked out very well. I notice my results are more consistent than what my panel reads -- or that test strips give you.
