Salt level 3600 last week and 4000 today! Causes?

TY....I thought it was also sharing SWG info but I now realize it is not.
I input your info into PM app.
20k gals
Hayward T-15 SWCG which produces 1.4lbs/day
If SWCG is set at 50% and Pump runs for 12 hrs
The SWCG will produce 2.1ppm of FC in that 24 hrs

So you can see if you vary the pump time or the % setting of the SWCG - the PPM output will change.
Tell us what you are setting it on as that info is not shown in your PM logs - only test data, chemical additions and notes are seen in the PM logs.

If you want to log your swcg settings for your record or for us to see here’s how
IMG_9300.jpeg
IMG_9302.jpeg
IMG_9304.jpeg
Then adjust the output of your swcg (yours is 1.47 #)
& adjust run time & percentage as you have it set (this example is my swcg’s output & setting)
IMG_9305.jpeg
It will then look something like this in your logs

Well I learned something new today. Guess I can take the rest of the day off!!
I never thought to use SWG under Chemical Additions. I kept track of the changes I made to the SWG output with NOTES.
I also input on a spreadsheet to track total time of SWG use.
So now I will start using SWG when I make changes to % output.
Thanks @Mdragger88

For me this is all new. Thank you for this info.

It will show in your fc summary this way too! No spread sheet necessary 😊
You can pick any time frame you like. I love the summary function.

Today my pool service told me I needed a new filter. I have a 160355 clean and clear RP and a 20,000 gallon pool.
When I bought the whole filter it came with a filter in it but replaced it with what the pool guy said was appropiate for my pool. The unused filter is in my store house and I do not have the specs on it at the moment. Can more than one type of filter be used? More directly is there a chance my original unused filter was ok to use but I unneccessarily upgraded it?

If it came in the filter, then yeah.

Does the new one look larger/taller ? Sometimes the same housing fits different cartridges so maybe the pool guy upgraded the size.

You have a 150 sq ft filter. As noted, there is a 100 sq ft and a 200 sq ft in this model. In a different model, the maximum size is 520 sq ft. So there is a very large range to meet all requirements. We find that many members living in Florida have a smallish filter. It may be that many have a screen enclosure so the debris is less and thus a smaller filter works.

Ideally we recommend the largest sq ft filter that fits your budget or your equipment pad.

What happens is that you may require to clean the filter more often. Maybe the pool guy doesn't want to do that.

The recommended determination is once the filter is cleaned, then when put back into service this becomes the "clean" pressure that should be noted from the gauge on top of the filter. When the pressure rises 25% above that then it is time to clean your filter. Always check the filter pressure at the same pump speed if you have a VS pump. So if your CLEAN pressure is 15psi then when it reaches 19psi it is time to clean your filter. This requires disassembly, hosing down the filter, and reassembly.
Members with large filters may do this only once or twice a year. You may need to do it more often.
Remember - always check the filter pressure at the same speed setting of the pump.

So it would be interesting to know what filter model that you have in storage shed.

Thank you! When the pool person says you need a new filter is that because cleaning doesn't lower pressure anymore?

They tend to blame most chemistry issues on the filter.

Got pics ? Are the bands and pleats intact ? Did any floccs or such ever go through them ?

I intend to look further into this. Any simple tips for a newbee to open the filter up and how to inspect?
The manual is detailed on cleaning
Here is snapshot of disassembly
1. Turn the pump off, shut off any automatic controls to ensure that the system is not inadvertently started during
servicing.
2. Open the filter High Flow™ manual air relief valve and the waste drain valve, or cap, if your system has one.
3. Remove hair and lint strainer pot lid and clean basket. Replace basket and secure lid.
4. Disconnect air relief drain hose if installed.
5. Remove lock ring by depressing safety latches on both sides of ring and rotate counterclockwise, then remove
tank lid.
6. Remove the element assembly by placing hands in lifting handles and pulling straight up on the element
assembly.
7. Remove the cartridge element from the center support tube.
8. Using a garden hose with a nozzle, direct water spray at the cartridge element to dislodge and wash away
accumulated foreign matter. Water may be sprayed at the outside as well as the inside of the cartridge
element for thorough cleaning.

Thank you everyone. How were you able to know that its a 150 vs 200 filter and what filter would be best for my situation going foward? (and where to buy)

The same filter housing fits multiple carts. It'll be interesting to see if the tech upsized you or downsized you. Florida pool techs/PBs sure love their dinky filters. It's entirely possible the originals are larger and you get a free upgrade by swapping.

We can never nail down if it's ignorance or they want to get the extra cleaning charges. Maybe both ? :ROFLMAO:

Or they had a smaller one on hand to sell and swapped the cartridge for the larger one.

I was wondering how we knew the size of the filter I actually have. Not what came with the filter. So now I realize the 150 came with the 160335 filter unit. I suspect I was upgraded to the 200 and thats what I have unused in warehouse. Would I notice much of difference if I used my original 150 if my 200 is shot (if its shot that is) or should I go for 200 replacement again?

I would go 200 sq ft. The filter will accept either and always best to large.
