Salt Generator in Hot Tub - long term

A number of members use a drop in SWCG for their standalone spas.

You should get some replies tomorrow.

I had a SWG in mine permanently... Yes you will need a 24/7 circulation pump, almost every hot tub I have ever seen has one as that is what filters the water... I left the Ozone connected, it will eat some of the chlorine but that is good in a hot tub as the sun never eats any of it cause it is covered... You will have to run it with CYA with it at start, I took CYA to 30, added salt and started the SWG the next day... I tried to keep FC between 1 and 2...

Hope this helps

Bob,

I have a Saltron Mini salt system.. It does not get connected to the spa's plumbing, so circulation is not an issue.. I have no idea about working with UV and Ozone..

It worked great for me. Chemically, I treated it just like my pool and hardly ever had to add anything else.. Just like my pool, a little acid now and again..

Thanks,

Jim R.

I also have a Saltron Mini...it's great for keeping FC up during periods the tub is not in use, though I have to manually add FC after use. (With light use or regular use and a higher setting the manual additions could be eliminated)

I do not have a 24/7 circulation pump, and it seems to be fine. One of my two pumps is a two-speed pump, and the hot tub kicks it on low every 15 or 30 minutes for two minutes to check water temp, and runs on low if heat is needed, or if it's running ozone (ozone generator probably isn't working anymore though, and I don't want it either). Both pumps kick in on high twice a day for 15 minutes for filtration purposes.
