I have and AquaTrol RJ (no flow switch required) with a T-5 cell that recently exploded. I got a T-15 to replace it.
Its installed but I don't have it on yet. ( have to jump J4 to use T-15 cell with this)
I'm trying to understand why this exploded before restarting. The week before I noticed I may have a leak
in the liner as the water was low every other day or so and the pump was in cavitation. Now I do have a
pool cleaner normally attached (Polaris 65) to the return and has been for a few years with no
problems even when water got low and pump went in to cavitation at times.
I first suspected having the pool cleaner on the return and the low water flow allowed gasses to settle in the cell
but the hose for it has a bypass valve at the pool return that I general keep quite loose so the Polaris 65 works properly.
Again this has been working fine for a few years.
I now suspect this may have happened because I added pool shock ( calcium hypochlorite) and maybe
some stabilizer the day before it exploded.
Any thoughts?
