I own a family style dog boarding business at my home. We have anywhere from 2-10 dogs here for daycare or boarding. They love the safety cover 🙄Our fence encompasses a large part of our yard, and our pool. Any suggestions for something with a hard surface that I can cover the safety cover with? Not interested in the safety fence for just around the pool. Maybe some fancy plywood? Lol. I’m worried about the longevity of the cover. Many dogs have a great recall with ‘off’, but many don’t.

Thanks for any thoughts! ✌🏽❤️🐶

No idea sis besides a temporary fence. Obviously a kid stop-y mesh one will be much nicer than an orange snow fence.

But I can feel the dogs sadness followed by triumphant Joy in that pic

Oh yeah, they think it’s the greatest thing ever! Our business has grown quite a lot from last year. This wasn’t such a big problem then

I solved it with a solid safety cover. My daughter's dog scratched a good sized hole in my mesh one while playing in the water. Fortunately, the mesh cover was 13 years old at the time so it wasn't a big loss.

Interesting - I didn’t realize they were much thicker! The dogs still go on it, but not as much sinkage? Thanks!

They are. Heavy as snot too.

It will still sink but no water will come through and it will just raise the pool water (under the cover) by however much their weight displaces it.

They very well might still like it as a trampoline, but they won’t be wet at least.

Hang tight for thoughts on if their nails would eventually rip holes in it. IMHO it would hold up better than the mesh, but only until a squirrel passed through and they dug in to launch after it.

It is not about the sinkage. It is about eliminating the water as a source of entertainment to the dogs. My daughter's dog did the same thing as the dogs in your photo. She would got to the middle of the cover, wait for the water to come up through the mesh and then paw at the water. With the solid cover, there isn't any water coming up through the cover. Now she is entertained by other things in the yard, particularly digging and rolling in the mulch. My safety cover is completely solid. Loop-Loc, my manufacturer, also sells solid covers with mesh drainage panels. I didn't want that because I would have the same problem - water coming up through the mesh. If anything, I have a bit more sinkage due to the heavier weight of the cover.

As some may have saw in my last post, I own a family style dog boarding business. Our pool is within a large fence in area - 3/4 yard and grass along with the pool. We have a mesh safety cover, which the dogs think is great fun. I've been mulling around ideas on how to stop them from using it. A solid cover, perhaps - but some water will still pool by the pump. So I think I'm going with a safety fence.

However, the fence would only be used during the months when the pool is closed. I am looking at the DIY ones since we are using it to block dogs from the cover, and not for the safety of humans. I'm honestly not sure if people take them down during months when the pool is closed? Or what the normal routine is. We def want it removed once the pool is opened, and put back up once closed.

To those with safety fences - have they held up well in hard winters? Are they a royal PIA to put up and take down?

Thanks so much!

Well.................hummmmmmmmmmm Then I say drill holes but find some kind of caps you can put in them when you go to take them out. Lowes had quite a few to pick from. Some are white so they won't stand out as much. The hard part will be finding some just the right size.

I know, it really isn't what I want to do - but the biz is making me! LOL.

I'm hoping they are somewhat easy to remove. Good thought about the plugs!
