I plan on starting up my iChlor 30 this weekend and happened upon a few YouTube videos suggesting a sacrificial anode. Can anybody confirm this suggestion and maybe recommend a cheap one I can just drop into the skimmer basket? Thanks.

You don’t need a sacrificial anode. Just dropping one in your skimmer would be adding metal to your pool water and that means staining.

This is like asking which is better Ford, Chevy or Dodge. You should not need one, but they are also cheap insurance for some piece of mind. I have a friend with an in ground salt pool and he keeps it balanced. After about 8 years his aluminum pool coping was eroding so bad that he had to have his concrete deck cut and replace the coping/liner and about 14" of deck all the way around his pool. It looked to me like the same corrosion that you see on the anode on all outboard motors...just much worse. He did not have an anode. When I put my pool in last summer...I put an anode in. It may not do any good, but I sleep better knowing that I put one in.

This is the one I got. Be sure to mount it horizontally and not vertically or you will end up bleeding air out of it all the time. I mounted mine horizontally and it never gets air in it.

I use that one also. But in order for it to be effective it needs to be bonded.
