So my outlets are not very close to the pool. The S200 says no extension cords, (obviously not one in the pool) but what is the harm of an extension cord from an outlet to the power supply control box?
From an electrical standpoint, it’s probably not an issue. They probably have that in there from a pool safety standpoint - if you ran an extension cord and left the power supply near the pool there is a slim chance the power supply could get dragged into the pool causing an electrocution hazard.
So if you use an extension cord, it’s up to you to make sure an electrocution hazard can not happen.
Just make sure that it follows the NEC Pool Code. There are enclosure and set back requirements for any 120V outlets near a pool. You also want to ensure that if you do plug the robot power supply into that planned outlet that it cannot accidentally get into the pool.
I agree with Matt.. the power supply cord is only about 6 feet long.. Since most outlets have to be 10' away, it would be impossible for the power suppy to end up in the pool and still be plugged in. As long as you ensure the power supply can never be pulled into the pool, then using an extension cord will not cause any harm to the unit itself..
I've been using one since I bought mine and have had no issues. It's plugged into a GFCI outlet and isn't close enough to the pool to get pulled in inadvertently.
