So I found a bunch of 1 inch rust stains in the pool from an errant Bobby pin that’s been getting pushed around for a while before I noticed it. Treated a couple with vitamin c and they went away just fine. Had some others that were more stubborn so i left a tab on top of them for about half an hour. Now they look way worse and i appear to have chewed up my plaster or something. A couple tabs went off on their own and left their own orange stains in other spots. Not entirely sure what happened here, I guess the acid just discolored all the pebble/plaster? What’s the best solution here, should I try the ascorbic acid wash?

It appears per google that at least some pins may be copper coated steel, so maybe it’s copper that oxidized? Which would be bad. I have no dry acid on hand but I could go get some, same principle as the ascorbic acid though right?

Interestingly all the smudgy dark stains resolved overnight. Rust stains remain and looo about the same. Guess I’ll get that test kit to confirm, thank you.
