running pump with skimmers closed

forty-year old 23000 gallon gunite pool with two skimmers and one floor drain, hayward superpump with new v-green variable speed motor. I've lowered the water below the skimmers to allow for tile repair but it might be a few days before i receive the thinset and grout. Will it stress any part of the system if i close the skimmer valves and run the pump with only the floor drain open, probably on low pump speed? Nobody will be using the pool so there is no concern about dangerously increased suction. I've seen some old threads here with similar question but i'd appreciate any current thoughts. Thanks

As long as the pump will prime and maintain prime, no issue.
