Rocks in the pump

Why do I have small rocks in the pump basket and under the pump basket

Pics would help especially in reference to an object of known size like a coin. You are probably picking them up from the bottom of the pool. Do you brush to your drains or have an in floor cleaning system? Do you vacuum manually? Any of those will pick up whatever is on the bottom of the pool. If you have pebbletec then maybe some stones are coming loose. If you have a natural waterfall it may be shedding fragments like mine does. I get lots of sand from that.
