Robot cord disintegrating

My hand after pulling my robot (s200 type) in by the cord. Is this a thing or am i special?

Bot is 5-6 yrs old. Not new but still!!

Pretty normal when you leave it in the pool 24/7... I suspect the robot will fail long before the cord wears away.

The cord on my 12 year old SmartKleen began to disintegrate a few weeks ago, the rubbery outer coating just falling apart, similar to a rubber band left out in the heat. I suspect the chemical plasticizer has decomposed or evaporated.
